Digital Comedy Lab, created by Beactive Media, is a comedy incubation programme for film projects in Ireland and the UK that will see 2 winners receiving €50,000 to make a feature film later this year. The winning entry gets announced at the Cannes Film Festival at the end of May and will receive €50,000 to make their mockumentary feature before the end of this year. Our Vultures entry for the competition has just gone online and it takes the form of a trailer for the potential film. Whilst not decisive, the amount of views each of the entries has will help the producers gauge which of the potential films has the biggest appeal to an online audience. We’ve just released the first episode in the new series of Vultures. Janine Drew Presents Where Have All The Good Dicks Gone? went online March 19th. It follows the adventures of loudmouth student detective Janine Drew as she makes a documentary about unemployed detectives in Ireland. She wants to find out what happened to the detectives of Vultures Private Investigations. What she finds is the broken, lonely underbelly of the Irish detective world which is as hilarious as it is tragic.

The new episode details the return of the detectives of V.P.I. Suzanne O’Brien, Seán Hackett, John Morton and David Thompson return as Janine Drew, Niall Tennyson, Jim Vultour and Dan McGrain respectively. They will be joined by some familiar faces from previous episodes as well as some new characters. Like previous Vultures episodes, the show was shot entirely on location in Kilkenny. The new episodes will go online between now and June.

We’re currently gearing up for a new Vultures shoot this coming weekend. The first four episodes of the new series wraps on April 16th.

Janine Drew Presents Where Have All The Good Dicks Gone? hits the web on this coming Monday, March 19th. It marks the first episode of the new series of Vultures, with three more episodes immediately following from now until June. It’s the first Vultures episode that we’ve shot in a mockumentary format and it follows student dick Janine Drew as she attempts to chronicle the life of unemployed detectives in small town Ireland for her college course.

It will be available to view on VulturesPI.com, YouTube.com/VulturesPI and straight to your fancy digital device if you’ve subscribed to it on iTunes.

The dicks are back...

Today we announced our first big creative project of 2012. This year will see the online release of new Vultures material.

This will be the first new Vultures material since the release of The Long Goodbye in October 2009. Between March and June, we will be releasing a series of short webisodes that will pick up the adventures of our dicks Niall Tennyson, Jim Vultour, Dan McGrain and new addition, first year college student Janine Drew.

The creative team from the first series are back as well as our wonderful, patient, loyal and of course, handsome cast. We also look forward to the addition of new faces to both cast and crew. We’re currently preparing to shoot the first new episode next week.

All webisodes will be made available on www.VulturesPI.com, on the Vultures YouTube channel and on iTunes.

A happy new year to all of you from all of us!

Just before the Christmas break we hosted cast and crew screenings of both of our new short films Hot Water Bottle and Baby Love. Both films went down a treat and it was lovely to show them to everyone before they hit the festival circuit this year.

We’re currently focusing on a new short film that we’ll be shooting in the summer and two forays back into the world of the webcom. It’s all a case of watching this space at the moment but when we’re in a better position to reveal details, believe us, we will!

2012 is shaping up to be a fantastic year for Mycrofilms. We’ve got a great slate of work lined up and what’s more, we’re going to be 5 years old! It’s scary how much time flies but exciting nonetheless. We’re lucky to be as busy as we are so we’re not complaining. If there’s anything we can do you for, you can contact us right here!
